Determination of Empirical Correlations between Shear Wave Velocity and Penetration Resistance in the Canakkale Residential Area (Turkey)

One of the most important parameters used to determine dynamic properties soil layers is shear wave velocity. In geotechnical earthquake engineering, velocity modulus, which provides input for design earthquake-resistant structures. Although there are measurement methods in field studies velocity, they may not be economical some cases. this study, empirical correlations between and penetration resistance sandy soils were investigated with use geoseismic data obtained within scope microzonation performed Canakkale residential area. The results study compared from previous studies, equation we produced showed a good ability predict addition, it was determined that standard resistance, without energy correction, provided better correlation coefficient.
